Hydrologiq is tackling Sustainable Development Goals with the help of Google’s Startup Advisor: SDG program.
We are proud to announce that our fight against the global diesel crisis has been recognised by Google. In the UK alone we burn one billion litres of diesel per annum in 125,000 diesel generators, producing a staggering 3.6 million tonnes of CO2e every single year. Our solution is to help users of diesel transition to cleaner alternatives like hydrogen fuel cell generators. Fuel cells provide silent, vibration-free electricity, plus no emissions at point of use, meaning that construction site workers or festival-goers aren’t breathing in carbon monoxide or particulates from nearby power generation. With green hydrogen coming online in the UK as we type, fully carbon-neutral fuel is finally available.
Now, Google is supporting us as we build the Hydrologiq Platform, a place where businesses can understand what transitioning from diesel to hydrogen would mean for them, compare and purchase available solutions, and cut through the haze of regulation and fuel supply processes to deploy their new solutions in the real-world.
What is the advisor program?
Google’s Startup Advisor: SDG program connects Google’s key resource – its people and expertise – with social and sustainability-focused startups all around the world. It creates cross-sector collaboration between Google, startups, and relevant partners focused on achieving the 17 UN Sustainable Development Goals.
Why is it important for Hydrologiq?
We receive support from Google experts to help us solve bespoke technical and business milestones in order to achieve our goal of tackling the diesel crisis faster. We receive 1:1 advice and support from Google and relevant external advisors, assisting with technology, product, design, growth, and funding.
What are the Sustainable Development Goals?
Both Google and Hydrologiq care deeply about achieving the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals. Seventeen goals have been set out by the United Nations as an urgent call for action by all countries to build towards a sustainable future. The SDGs are wide-ranging, from SDG 1: No Poverty, to SDG 14: Live Below Water. Hydrologiq’s focus on tackling the diesel crisis and making off-grid hydrogen happen is spread over many different SDGs, but we are most focused on SDGs 7, 9, 12 and 13:
- Goal 7: Affordable and Clean Energy aims to ensure access to affordable, reliable, sustainable and modern energy for all.
- Goal 9: Industry, Innovation and Infrastructure focuses on promoting inclusive and sustainable industrialisation and fostering innovation. Off-grid power is a key challenge in sustainable industrialisation.
- Goal 12: Responsible Consumption and Production is building towards sustainable consumption and production patterns.
- And finally, Goal 13: Climate Action champions action to combat climate change and its impacts around the world.
