News Brick Development Association 2005 Export Award 10.11.2005 The innovative use of Clay Brick pavers for the Fire Training evaporative surface water disposal systems has been recognised by the award of the Brick Development Association 2005 Export Award. This new UK Fire Training Ground is the first facility ever built to use the Patented Evapor-8 System. Rainfall falling on the Fire Training Ground’s foam contaminated surface drains through permeable block paving into a storage cell below the paving. Water from the cell is then sprayed back onto the paving and evaporated by the sun and wind. Water from the cell is also used to run the fire-training rig. Over the course of a year all the rainfall landing on the cell is disposed of in this way, so there is no outfall to watercourse. The system is unique in that it is self-contained, and after a year of operation, the system has been proven to be successful and is providing exceptional environmental protection. |
