Sustainable Surface Water Disposal System Patent Granted 26.07.05

A UK Patent (UK Pat No. 2406861) has been granted for a unique system of surface water management that utilises natural evaporation to dispose of water reducing or eliminating the need to dispose of runoff to watercourse.

One of the systems covered by the Patent is successfully operating at a new UK Fire Training Ground, the first facility built to use the Patented Evapor-8 System. Rainfall falling on the Fire Training Ground’s foam contaminated surface drains through permeable block paving into a storage cell below the paving. Water from the cell is then sprayed back onto the paving and evaporated by the sun and wind. Water from the cell is also used to run the fire-training rig. Over the course of a year all the rainfall landing on the cell is disposed of in this way, so there is no outfall to watercourse providing exceptional environmental protection. The system is unique in that it is self-contained, and after a year of operation, the system has been proven to be successful.
